For AW12 we are slowing down, focusing on the long cycles and evolution in nature. We have chosen a naturalistic approach, looking at the periodic table, natural history, DNA and fossils. The overwhelming transformation from dead plants to oil takes over 100 million years. The universe is monumental and puts our lives into perspective.

This outlook has shaped the denim washes and effects as well as serving as inspiration for prints and colours. The processes in nature theme can be seen on the denim through fades and shades of fog and dust – both in colour ranges and washes. In addition we have used a lot of coarse structures to give a feeling of earth or gravel. Focusing on non denim fabrics in denim styles give the possibility to use a wider palette of tones and colours, while maintaining a 5-pocket look.

We found Eastern philosophy a fitting complement when looking for inspiration for the collection. A circular perception of time slows the pace and gives room for dedication and responsibility. To give heed to these ideas and to implement something diligently and faithfully, with great patience and discipline, leaves tracks as a contemporary martial arts influence in the collection.
